Short and exhilarating was my return to running. I have been suffering from pain in my foot every time that I went jogging or walking for a longer period of time, and had therefore kept the tempo slow and the ways short for the last two weeks. Finally today, when my data analysis for my dissertation, visa applications, and emails got too much, I went in search of escape.
The tempo was not particularly great, which I guess is understandable after I have not been out pounding the pavements regularly. Nevertheless it gave me the time to calm down, relax, and enjoy the outdoors. I found my way through the trees and along the paths, looping four kilometres, and celebrating the lack of pain in my foot. I feel a bit like an animal returning from hibernation.
As usual, this made me completely over-eager and I returned to the Moscow Marathon website…. which is holding a half marathon in May. If I could make that?
What about you? What goals have you set this spring?
I’ve been trying to get back in the groove after a hiatus as well, shooting for a 5K in May if the knees will cooperate. I miss regular training!
